Fitness tip of the Month

Keeping the weight off during the holiday season.

Fill your plate ½ way at dinner parties and do not go for seconds.

Allow yourself to have one appetizer before dinner or stick with the vegetable/fruit platter without the dressing dip to curb your pre-meal appetite.

Drink a Glass of water after every alcoholic beverage.

Make sure you exercise for 30 minutes first thing the next morning.

Leg Exercises - Seated Single Leg Hamstring Curl
Primary Muscles: Biceps Femoris, Semitendinosus, Semimembranosus
Secondary Muscles: Gastrocnemius and Soleus
  1. Adjust the back pad adjustment on the seat so that your knees are in alignment with the machine axis and one heel is resting just over the pad on the arm of the machine. Your back should be flat against the back pad of the machine.
  2. Bend your knee and pull your heels down and back until your knee reaches 90-110 degrees of knee flexion.
  3. Slowly bring your heels back toward the starting position until you are just about to lose tension in the muscle.

Helpful Hint:
Relax your calf muscles during this exercise to get the most wok out of the hamstring muscles. This is a great exercise for isolating one set of hamstring muscles.
